You can treat sunburn but it is better to prevent it from happening in the first place by keeping covered and wearing plenty of sunscreen. Treat a sunburn with a number of home remedies. You can try a cool or cold shower or sit in a cool tub. Don’t take a hot one. It will only irritate the sunburn more. Cold wet rags to help cool the burn down a little. Keep changing the wet rags and keeping cool water on them. Change the water if it gets too warm. It takes some of the pain and the heat away. Painful sunburns can even keep you awake sometimes. This will help you relax a little. If you have an Aloe Vera plant around, which is a good thing to keep in your house or garden for burns by the way, then cut open a couple branches, scrape out the gel from the inside and rub it over the burned areas. It can really help. Store bought creams used for the relief of sunburns often have Aloe Vera as one of their ingredients. This is all natural with no unnameable manufactured chemicals or added scents. One thing my mom used to put on me was vinegar with a damp rag. It made me smell like a warm salad but it did help some. Try to wear lose clothing if you are at home. It won’t rub the burned and tender skin so much that way. It will allow the air to help cool your overheated skin too.
