How can I get wild birds to come in my yard without fancy birdhouses?

Category: Uncategorized

What’s the quickest way you know of to draw wild birds into your garden without having to build fancy bird houses or structures? What about with children and pets around?

Fancy birdhouses aren’t necessary to attract wild birds into your yard. Some birds are drawn by particular plants like hummingbirds who feed on insects and the nectar from flowers. They like orange, pink and red flowers. They also like trumpet shaped flowers. Plant flowers that will attract the hummingbirds in your own garden. To attract seed eating wild birds, get a nice mix of wild birdseed from many pet stores, garden supply stores or garden centers. There are specialty bird supply stores in some places too. Look online if you can’t find anything locally to feed the wild birds in your area. You can do something as simple as hand scattering seeds on the ground where you want the birds to land. If you do that though, make sure it is safe from your own pets and kids. You can also put simple trays of seeds set wherever you want to attract them. Set them not far from a window so you can sit from the inside and watch the wild birds. You might be surprised at the variety you attract in your area. Bird watching is a nice way to teach small children not only how to appreciate nature but to teach them to sit calmly so they don’t scare the birds away. When My daughter and I sit quietly on the back patio area after we throw seeds out. The birds seem to get used to us and will still come to feed close by while we are there. Mama Nono
