Can I boost my energy without energy drinks?

I’ve been suffering from low energy. I don’t like energy drinks… do you know of a natural home remedy for increased energy?

Skip the energy drinks. Most of those are nothing more than hyper doses of caffeine and sugar, a very unnatural way to boost your energy. Instead, start with a good night’s rest. You’d be amazed how many people are exhausted; they are trying to do too much. Many years ago, my doctor had me make a list of my daily actitivities. When I took it back to him, he said, “My God, you’re busier than I am.” Never be busier than your doctor!

Pay close attention to the time of day when you feel your energy sag. Does it happen at the same time every day? If so, try eating extra small meals instead of three big ones, or just add high protein snacks to your day. Sugar will give you an immediate boost of energy as it spikes your blood sugar, but then when the sugar fades, you will feel even worse than before. Instead, a protein-rich snack will give you extra energy in the form of extra calories, but won’t wreak havoc on your blood sugar. The slow-release of energy will help you feel more alert longer. You may also want to consider eating more Mexican food or other foods with lots of spice. The spice in jalepenos and other spicy foods can help raise your body’s metabolism and make you feel more energetic. You should also be sure to drink plenty of fluids and graze over the course of the day as many of us feel a little low when our bodies are running out of fuel.

The most important thing you can do when feeling your energy wane is do something different. if possible, get up from the desk andtake a walk around the room. Grab a breath of fresh air or look out a window. Just a little distraction from the routine often helps more than anything else.
