How big were the places the Jews were forced to hide in to escape from the Nazi’s?

The places the Jews were forced to hide were all different sizes. The people who had the courage and the humanity and dignity to hide them sometimes only had small places and had to use whatever resources they had to help hide the Jews and others who were persecuted and being sent off to death in the concentration camps or shot on the spot. The most famous was Anne Frank’s hideaway. The entrance to the apartment the families lived in was at the top of a set of stairs behind a bookcase that swung out. It looked like a solid wall with a bookcase attached. Downstairs and in the front of the building was a full functioning office. Surprisingly when you see the annex, it is a lot larger than you would imagine. It had multiple rooms. Some places were merely attic rooms or parts of closets, even hidden spaces within walls or spaces under or behind trap doors. The Jews who were hiding had a better life than the concentration camp residents and victims but it was no easy existence with no freedom, scarce food and constant fear. They lived in terror of being discovered. They had to count on others for their daily life. There were often numbers of Jews hidden in very small places until they could be moved safely or the ones who were lucky enough to escape out of the countries being ravaged by the Nazis. The places they hid were all over from city to country and all sizes. Mama Nono
