How can i spread out my holiday baking?

Category: Uncategorized

I have a ton of cookie and special treat baking to do every holiday. How can I spread it out a little? It is too much to do all at once.

The biggest trick is to plan way ahead of time. Get all the cookie recipes out. Start buying the supplies when you see them on sale ahead of time to save money. That will spread out the money in your budget too. Write down all the ingredients you are going to need and figure out how many batches you will make of each kind. On days when things are not so hectic, even a couple months ahead of time, mix up a batch or two of each kind. Then put them in freezer bags and freeze them until you are ready to make them. You can stockpile a lot of premade cookie dough that way. Then when it is time to make the actual cookies, just take whatever bags you need out a day or so ahead of time and let them thaw. Since you won’t have all the mixing to do, the mess won’t be as bad all at once either. You can even cut things like nuts or dried fruits, crushed candy cane, up and put those in bags, jars or plastic storage containers ahead of time. If you use frostings, those will have to be mixed closer to the work days or on them but that is a lot easier than having to mix, chop, stir, blend, and cut all in one day. By splitting up the project, it will make the task seem less daunting too by trying to do it in a really short time period. Those cookie companies that sell the premixed frozen cookie dough for school fundraisers are doing this exact thing. They prepare the dough ahead of time. Have fun mixing! Mama Nono
