How do I care for a blooming indoor rose?

How do I keep a blooming indoor rose plant healthy that I got as a gift?

Once an indoor rose has bloomed, it needs to be trimmed back. Trim off the dead flowers and trim back the plant by about a third so it doesn’t get leggy. It will stay full and healthy this way and it will encourage more growth and new flower buds. Keep dead leaves trimmed off the indoor rose. Keep the soil moist but make sure it drains properly between watering. Keep the potted plant in a bright inderect sunlit window if possible. Roses like the sun. They do well in indoor temperatures of 65 to 75 degrees. If you want to keep the rose as an indoor plant, it might be a good idea to take it outdoors on occasion for an airing and real sunlight. If you have a few of these potted roses, you can rotate them from indoors to outdoors to keep them healthy. Since they are confined to a pot, fertilize your potted rose monthly to ensure that it is getting the nutrients it needs. Use a liquid fertilizer and follow the directions listed for roses and flowering plants. Do not give the rose too much fertilizer or you can burn it. Plant centers, garden centers and even some drug stores will carry simple fertilizers. Add a little fresh soil on occasion if the base of the plant is looking unhealthy. Get rid of soil that looks white and is covered with mildew from too much moisture retention. Like any plant that needs attention, an indoor rose will thrive with care. Mama Nono
