How do I get rid of the rough skin on my heels and feet?
There are a number of commercial products available to help with rough cracked feet. It is usually a cream that you rub on the affected areas. If you use it consistently it may help. There are other ways to get rid of the rough skin too. A good soaking in warm water softens the hard dry skin. If you soak your feet first then while they are still warm and damp begin to rub the skin with a towel you may be able to remove some of the roughness on your feet and heels. To go further with a similar technique, soak you feet and then use a pumice stone or file to sand off some of the worst cracked areas. Then put a moisturizer or foot lotion on after you have removed some of the worst rough skin. To help prevent the problem, try not to walk around in warm weather without socks on or walk around with bare feet all the time in places that can pull moisture from your feet like in the garden or outside. If you do that then wash and clean your feet thoroughly after you come in and rub moisturizer on them to put the fluids back n the skin on your feet. Wearing shoes or socks helps prevent the chaffing and drying out of the skin on your feet and helps cut down on the dry cracked skin you have to deal with. Take care of the skin on your feet the same way you take care of the skin on your hands. Mama Nono
