How do I keep Santa real for my kids?

How do I keep Santa Claus real when my kids hear he isn’t at school?

If you want to keep Santa real or alive, make him alive to your children by talking about him that way yourself. Downplay what they hear at school. You have to be ready with a comeback for any questions they may come home with. If they say is there a Santa Claus, ask them what they think, play it up. I say things like, well I don’t think I would take the chance of saying I don’t believe and finding out there is nothing in my stocking or under the tree Christmas morning, would you? How do you think Santa would feel if you say you don’t believe he is real? I tell them they can choose to not believe in Santa Claus if they don’t want to, but I would rather believe. It is important for them to know the real meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate it. When they finally do realize, then they still have the real joy of the season, the real magic. My mother made Santa alive for us way beyond the time we found out, even as adults and now as an adult I passed that on to my kids so he stays real. Some parents believe they should be straight up and say no as soon as they find out but I don’t agree. Children lose their innocence way too quickly in this world of high tech and fast paced living. The legend of Santa keeps an innocence and a bit of childish wonder alive for everyone, adult or child. I believe! Mama Nono
