What else can we eat besides meat to get protein in our diets?

Category: Uncategorized

We aren’t vegetarians but are just not big meat fans, not even poultry that often. How can we get some more protein in our diet naturally?

Protein comes in a lot of other forms besides meat. You didn’t mention whether you like fish or not but that is a source of protein that many cultures eat more of than things like beef or pork. Eggs are another mighty little protein source and they can be cooked up so many different ways. Dairy foods like milk, yogurt and cheese are a good source of protein. Just think about how many varieties of cheeses there are and all the possibilities to vary your diet with them. Tofu is great cubed and stir fried with fresh veggies and served on rice. There are even dessert recipes that use tofu and it is a good source of protein. Nuts in their various from are a wonderful way to get protein in your diet. They are great to snack on. Nuts like almonds are good slivered and added to vegetables. Don’t forget the standard peanut makes peanut butter and a wonderful peanut sauce for dipping or grilling veggies. Nuts are easy to carry around too in a bag or purse and they won’t spoil quickly like meat will. Beans and legumes are also a good source of protein. They are easy to prepare. Finally don’t forget that many types of pasta with grains and whole grain breads have protein in them too. You don’t have to eat a lot of meat to get the proteins you need in your diet and there is plenty of variety available to choose from to vary your diet too. Eat up! Mama Nono
