What is a portable personal fire safe? Do you have any recommendations for how to pick one?

A portable personal fire safe is a heavy metal lined and insulated box that protects small valuables like documents and jewelry from fire. They can be carried around although some of them are very heavy depending on how big they are and it isn’t easy to carry them around. Usually they have a handle to carry them with. There are different thicknesses and qualities of portable fire safes. Some brands also come with ratings for how long they can withstand a fire. A portable personal fire safe is a great place to store important papers like insurance papers, car or house papers, copies of wills, personal information documents like passports and birth certificates and even special family things like unique photos or family jewelry pieces. They are much more likely to survive a fire in a fire safe. A portable fire safe is not outrageously expensive and worth investing in one or more if you have documents you want to protect. Many fire safes come with locks; either a combination style or they come with a key. Keep in mind that because the portable fire safe is heavy and lined, the inside storage capacity is smaller than the outside dimensions so chose the size you want accordingly. Some documents will not fit in the smaller ones without being folded. Check with google to find product comparisons and ratings before you buy one. A regular metal box is not the same thing as a fire safe. A Portable fire safe is quite heavy because of the thick walls of the box. You can store them in a closet, cupboard or a drawer easily.
