What is a simple Valentine idea to make for school kids?

One Valentine that I’ve made with my kids was a big hit with kids in school. Instead of the standard little valentines that most kids take home and eventually throw away make a valentine that’s useful. We made homemade bookmarks and passed them out for valentines on Valentine’s Day. They are very easy to make. If you have a paper cutter it works the best of all to cut these out, but a pair of scissors. a ruler and a pencil will work fine too. Cut out strips of heavier craft paper or even the thin poster board about 1 to 2 inches wide by 6 to 8 inches long. Once you have enough cut out so that each child in the classroom gets one, begin decorating them. Kids love making these valentines. You can use markers, crayons, colored pencils or even paints if you are feeling like dealing with the mess. If you have rubber stamps and ink pads in valentine’s colors and designs, those will work too. You can even use valentine’s stickers or glue little pictures on the strips of paper that are cut out from magazines. Another method is to cut bits of red or pink tissue paper and glue them to the paper strips. If kids are helping to make these let their imaginations go. They come up with some great creations. Make sure the design covers both the front and back of the Valentine or if you want a space to sign the valentines, leave a small area on one side of the Valentine bookmarks where you can put the to and from signatures on the valentines. These Valentine’s Day bookmarks are sure to be a hit with your kid’s classmates. Mama Nono
