Where can I donate old books?

Donating old books is a great way to recycle and to contribute something to a local group or organization at the same time. The type of books you are donating will be a guiding factor in where you donate your books. The condition they are in is important too. Your local library takes donations. It is best to give them books in good condition. They take books on many subjects and for all age categories. But they don’t want out of date books like old computer books. If you have books that are specific to a certain career or specialty, consider donating them to an organization that can get the best use out of them, medical books to a school that teaches medicine, law books to a law school and so forth. Local elementary schools appreciate donations of reading material for children. Many times teachers in each classroom have to build up their own library within their class. Often this comes out of their own pockets. See if a local age appropriate class can use some kid’s books it that is what you have, to supplement the teacher’s collections. Check with local care homes or elder care places for adult reading material. They may be happy to get some new materials for the residents. Ask at local churches to see if they would like the books to use for any helping ministries that take donations. You can also ask around your own neighborhood or set up a book exchange program. There are also the larger places that take donations of many kinds, including books. There are many places that will be glad to accept your book donations. Pick one you like and go for it! Mama Nono
