Why am I itching when I put on my clean clothes?

My whole family has experienced this at different times and the culprit has always been the methods used in cleaning and in drying the clothes. The two things that irritate our skin and cause the itching, are scented detergents and any kind of softening sheets or softeners put in the washer or dryer. Since there’s no way to get away from the cause when clothes and bedding have been washed and dried that way, the itching is incessant. It makes you feel miserable. Try two things to stop that itching in its tracks. Buy a liquid detergent that is gentler on your skin and specifically lists the ingredients as free and clear of perfumes or unnatural scents. The other thing is to avoid those softening sheets that get thrown in the dryer or scented liquid softeners. If someone else is doing your washing for you in, make sure that they are not using those products either. You are most likely having an allergic reaction to the chemicals and scents used in the products you use to wash and/or dry your clothes with. The only way you’re going to stop that itching you get when you put on your clean clothes is to eliminate the source of the itching. Try a couple different brands to see which one works the best for you. There are quite a few available on the market. If it is your detergent and/or dryer sheets or softeners, you should notice a difference right away with the next couple loads of wash. Once you get the relief from all that miserable itching, you won’t go back to the old products you used to use. Mama Nono
